Good Morning fellow losers.....
Last night I made a great recipe.. spinach lasagna rolls. Very easy and very tasty. I found the recipe on skinnytaste.com.
Another tool I'm going to use to to assist me in reaching my goal is my fitness pal. I can use it on my pc and they have an app for my iphone so I keep track of all my food and activities throughout the day. One of the coolest features about this app for my phone is that it has a scanner so you can scan the bar code of the food your eating and it will enter all the info for that food. Bonus, takes all the work out of journaling. This is not my first time in the weight lose journey and the key to any weight lose success is to journal, journal, journal. So I have found that the easier I make it to journal the more successful I will be.
I also have two other goals that I have set to give me as much success as possible and those are: 1) No alcohol for 90 days......
2) No cookies at work (understand that we make cookies at work every day, so I help make them as well as smell them every day).
I'm slightly nervous about today, I have to attend a tea. One of my weaknesses is sweets. I know there is going to be cake, the tea sandwiches shouldn't be too bad. It's just those darn desserts that get me. I will be strong!!!
Wishing everyone a successful day.....

Hey, an occasional sweet is not bad. It is all about cutting down, not completely out. Just balance it out with a little more activity and you can do it.
ReplyDeleteHi Debra! Congrats to you!!! I am on the same journey! I have lost 25 lbs so far doing WeightWathchers and exercise on most days. I am half way to my goal of 155lbs.. It feels fabulous..I look and feel sooo much better. I hate to admit it, (and pictures do not lie) that I started out on 9/26/11 at 202, now at 177. I actually can see defined muscles and all my clothes are waaay baggy. Time to get a couple of new things to hold me over as I am in a process. I do not have any current pics of this new weight yet only old photos of being heavier...Eat lots of fruit and vegies as no one ever got fat on those..good lean proteins...write down every morsel you eat know the value of what it is weather it is points or calories..it's what going in vs what being used that counts!!
ReplyDeleteWe are over 50 now and it is soo important to take care of our health and not GIVE ourselves self induced dietary induced disease like diabetes and high blood pressure and extra risk of cancers...Alcohol is very bad for our breast health as I have recently been made aware from my 1st breast biopsy last week (another story)..so I am still enjoying a nice glass of wine 2-3 times per week, just not "partying all the time"..
Try not to get discouraged if the weight does not come off as quickly as you would like...patience...10 lbs per mo is Alot! and that level is hard to keep up also..slow and steady to success..It didn't come on overnight and it will not go off overnight..I have averaged about 4-7 lbs per mo.. everyone is different....some people say "oh that's all?" I say yeah but look at me now!! It's been pretty easy!!! and I still enjoy my life!!! .. So I will be staying tuned to your story as you enter a new year and a New You!!! hugz...Lisa Patocchi Ohman
Hey there Deb! I can really relate to your challenge with sweets, especially cookies. I have to eat carefully because of my health issues and cookies are often my down fall. One thing that I try to remind myself when the cravings kick in is that I really don't want that cookie, it's the addiction, or the infection, or the candida, or the sugar crash (whatever the case may be) that is demanding cookies, not ME. Then I try to remind myself that nothing tastes as good as feeling great! So every time you see those cookies think of how funky you feel after the sugar crash and how you'll feel better when you love your body then you will from the 1 minute of eating it.
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like I can help you create links in your blog posts so you can send your readers to the recipes and apps you are talking about.
Lisa, you are doing so amazing!!! You are an inspiration! I'm so grateful for your words of wisdom. I agree with you that we need to be taking care of our bodies especially now that we're in our 50's. Menopause is tough and I'm trying to counter act the effects of menopause. I'm so sorry for your scare. I'm guessing that things came out with a positive outcome. At least that's what I'm hoping for you.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't my first go round with weight lose but it is the first time I'm doing it with a trainer and going to the gym so regularly.
I'm trying as many tools as I can to help me successful. With the help of friends like you I know I will do it and when I do get discouraged I know my friends and family will remind me of the good that I'm doing. We all need encouragement. Lisa, love and hugz to you...
Keri,
ReplyDeleteof course I will let you help me... I'm grateful for your help. I'm so new at this and I'm not completely computer literate. So yes please help me. I made it through the tea with only a couple small scones and I skipped the cake. Today I made cookies at work and not having them made me feel so strong. Thank you very much for all your help!!
Way to go on avoiding the cookies!
ReplyDeleteWhen you are creating your post (or editing an old one) go to the left side of the tool bar and be sure COMPOSE is selected. Then in the center of the tool bar there is a blue button that says link click that and enter the word or words you want people to click on and the web address. For example Apricot Teryaki Recipe and then copy and paste the website into the second box. It will then take you back to you post so you can keep typing. Right next to that button there is one for inserting photos. Let me know if you need help figuring that out.
